We often get asked, what's the difference between the termite chemicals that a licensed pest control/termite company uses to that of an off-the-shelf product that you can buy from your local hardware shops such as Bunnings or an online company?
Let’s start by looking at what chemicals are used to control termites
Repellent Termite Chemicals
A repellent chemical kills termites and repels termites away from the termite treatment zone. Unfortunately, termites not affected by the repellent chemical can detect and stay away from the chemical in the soil. This means termites can remain active, exploring the area and still potentially be able to look for ways into your home. For various reasons, breaches in the treatment zone can happen making it possible for surviving termite to access your home. Repellent chemical is old termite chemical technology that most pest control companies no longer use as far superior products have superseded it. These products are safer and smarter than the repellent chemicals and use "Transfer Effect Properties".
Transfer Effect Termite Chemicals
A "transfer effect" means that when the termites come in contact with termite populations fast. This is the preferred choice for most reputable termite companies. (see more details below).

DIY means NO insurance if things go wrong

Is Your House Insured Against A Termite Attack?
Most house insurances will not protect you against termite attacks. If a termite barrier is breached, you need to ensure that you have insurance covering any damage. If you have your termite protection put in place by a licensed termite company, your property will be covered by insurance against any termite attacks through the Pest Control Company and being certified installers you are protected by the chemical company warranties should anything go wrong with the chemical.
Termite Protection with Results Home Services
At Results Home Services, we use Chemicals that are the latest in termite technology. We recommend and use either Altriset and Termidor / Termidor HE.
Termidor is a chemical that is proven to be one of the most effective chemicals in treating both termites (white ants) and black ants. Termidor is water-based and has no odour; it does not leach through soil and is not damaging to micro-organisms, earthworms and plants. The active ingredient that Termidor uses is Fipronil.
Altriset is currently the safest Termiticide on the market and is only harmful to termites. Altriset is the only liquid termiticide that is exempt from poison scheduling by the Australian Regulatory Authorities. Altriset has very low toxicity to birds, fish, earthworms and even honey bees, which mean you, can protect your home with minimal impact on the environment. The active ingredient in Altriset is Chlorantraniliprole.
Here at Results Home Services, we choose to use only brand name chemicals since generic chemicals often do not meet our standard required in protecting your home against termites.
